about

Consider RAGGAMUFFIN to be your “cultural DJ”, repurposing the role of OG Sound Selectors as intermediaries between the streets and the dance floor, acting as a music educator, and introducing crowds to hyperlocal cultural movements. The idea is to foster connection, a deeper appreciation; an overstanding of the history and culture that is enmeshed in the music. Through a human and grounded approach, the goal is to record these cultural gems, to create a space for them to live on, to be shared, and for everyone to learn about and enjoy.

RAGGAMUFFIN is a community, a living archive, a platform for independent research on Black cultural movements to be celebrated. Through the universal language of music, RAGGAMUFFIN prides itself in creating a space for art, culture, and history to converge, a borderless environment where the past-present-future hyperlocal cultural movements of the African diaspora can be remembered, represented and (re)negotiated.
